Videos
Watch this space….. I have some very talented and lovely people working away on making music videos for most of the tracks on the album. As they’re completed they’ll appear here, so keep an eye out. Special thanks to everyone that’s contributed to the films. Enjoy.
In the mean time, here’s some other music/video/film pieces that I’ve made for various shows, exhibitions and just for fun.
Contravention
Thanks to Fiona Campbell for making this amazing stop-motion film to accompany the track ‘Contravention’. Music taken from ‘For Triangles’.
Moving Life
Moving Life is track number one from ‘For Triangles’.
Thanks to Jess Kidd for creating the film, and to all those who feature in it too.
Ups & Downs
This is a conceptual video sculpture piece that I created in 2008.
Inspired by the cyclical nature of emotions, nature and life the visual effects are created by layering the output from two basic line generators. The sound is produced by two Risset tone generators.
Although it maybe unpleasant at times, if you watch in full screen, and give it some patience you may find yourself immersed and reach a kind of meditative state. Especially if you try with headphones.
Artworks @ The Printworks
I took part in Artworks just after I had finished University in 2009. The table you see is my ‘Animatable’. It is an instant animation system, I take photographs while people draw on the table – the photographs are animated on-the-fly and shown on a screen. These are all the photographs taken over a 2 day period, with the table set up at the Printworks in central Manchester. The track is Meander from Music Grows on Trees (Creaked Compilation).
The Whole Kit & Caboodle
I made the Whole Kit & Caboodle in 2006. I was just about to start studying Interactive Arts at Manchester School of Art & Design. Before University actually started, they sent us our first brief through the post in the summer. We had to choose from one of 4 titles, and make…. “something” (any medium). I chose video and music. I asked friends, family and acquaintances if they could tell me what the Whole Kit & Caboodle actually is. This is a film of their responses, accompanied by some music inspired by the responses and thinking about the question.
The general consensus was it means ‘everything’ – so the images are images of what was my everything for that summer. Good times. The film starts with my Dad laughing at the prospect of the question ‘What is the Whole Kit & Caboodle?‘.
Fourtet – A Joy (remix)
A video for the remix version of A Joy by Four Tet.
Featuring friends, faces and joy.
